While it didn\'t have the ridiculous sales campaign like Halo 3, GTA:IV is still breaking records. Over in the UK the sales for Grand Theft Auto IV broke opening day sales records with 609,000 copies sold (spread across PS3, X360, etc).
San Adreas\' had held the record previously with 501,000.
In fact, GTA IV set the opening day sales record for both the Xbox360 and the PS3. I\'m sure Bungie must be pissed after spending so much time on their Halo 3 campaign because GTA IV absolutely trounced it. Compared to Halo 3\'s 266,000 units GTA IV sold 335,000. Shazam! Similarly, on the PS3 Gran Turismo 5: Prologue\'s record bowed before the hijacker friendly franchise\'s 274,000.
It really makes you wonder what big franchises remain that can take on the numbers of Halo 3 and GTA.
