Three Stooges Movie Not a Biopic, But New Episodes

The Farrelly Brothers are known for setting a standard in dumb, slapstick, gross-out comedies back in the 90s (with Dumb & Dumber and There\'s Something About Mary), so it\'s no surprise to known that they want to do a movie about the dukes of slapstick, The Three Stooges. The film was announced some while ago, but they\'re having a hard time getting it made because the studio is concerned about the marketability of the film.

In an interview with MovieWeb, the brothers revealed that they\'re not going to do a biopic or even try to re-emagine the characters in a "movie" story. Rather, they want to make new Three Stooges episodes.

It\'s Moe, Larry, and Curly. They sound the same. They look the same. They dress the same. But it takes place during present day. It\'s not a biopic. We\'ve written all new stuff for their lives. Its four episodes. Twenty minutes long each. The original episodes were only eighteen minutes long. We have four of them, and the next one picks up where the last one left off. There is a wholeness there, but if you watched the third episode first, there wouldn\'t be a problem. They all have their own thing. But if you watched them all in a row, you would see a continuity. It\'s four straight episodes, and each one starts with the theme music. Three blind mice.

Of course, being a movie, there\'s little chance of you watching the third episode first, until the DVD comes out, that is.

They\'ve also revealed on the thought process behind the casting, including the idea of casting a great actor as Moe.

Moe is the one that we really want to get a really good actor for. We want to get Russell Crowe. Benicio Del Toro was once considered for the part. The other two guys will be more from the comedy world.

It\'s suggested that Larry and Curly could be David Koechner and Rob Corddry, respectively. While the casting process hasn\'t even begun yet, the Farrellys agree that it would be a good choice. What do you think?
