IMDB's Free Movies Feature

Yesterday, Amazon.com announced that its subsidiary Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com) will begin showing free movies and television shows on the site. Over 6,000 titles will be available, the company said, citing recent episodes of popular television shows like 24 and Heroes or classic films like Some Like It Hot.

Well, I went to IMDB today to see their selections and they're pretty disappointing. While they do have select TV episodes provided by networks, the bulk of the movies they have available are just ones already available on Hulu. In fact, they're pretty much just embedding videos from Hulu.

Okay, there's nothing wrong with doing that, of course, as that is the great thing about Hulu. But, y'know, I was hoping for something more extensive than that. A different selection, or something. As it is, if it's just embedding players from Hulu, heck, we can do the same. Here, watch some Night of the Hunter. It's on us.

Then again, it is pretty convenient to look up a movie on IMDB and see an option to watch the movie for free, I must admit.
