Crap You Must See: "Shine On Me" Music Video

chrisdaneowens-shineonmeA great music video can save a bad song. At least for me, anyway. Likewise, a bad music video can make a bad song worse. In that regard, the  video for Chris Dane Owens' song "Shine on Me" from his debut album Blue Stone is a marriage of two terribles, cultivated in the depths of hell.

Or it's the single greatest music video ever made. You decide.

In the video, Chris Dane Owens—son of veteran voice actor Gary Owens—dons two looks: one as an androgynous rocker fake-playing a guitar, the other a Lord of the Rings-type hero who fights Doctor Doom and some dragons. Narcissistic doesn't cover it. Shitty comes close. Doing the facepalm, however, is the only appropriate response to this:

I'm halfway convinced this is some kind of epic joke. I'm even suspicious that the song itself is supposed to be a parody of Michael Bolton that arrived 20 years too late. Alas, I think Mr. CDO is totally serious.
