Last night's Saturday Night Live was, to put it bluntly, horrible. Ridiculous sketches, messed up cues, awkward timing, a wasted Hugh Laurie—what was that singing lamp sketch about, anyway? That actually made it past the dress rehearsal? Even the Blagojevich cold open was boring. And don't get me started on what Kanye was doing. Really, Hugh Laurie deserved better. More importantly, Amy Poehler deserved better for her last show ever.
That's right, Poehler's had her last performance on SNL (although I suspect they'll ask her to guest whenever they need another Hillary Clinton sketch). Last night at the end of her final Weekend Update, she said her thanks and bid adieu. It got to a point where she almost cried, eyes welling up, but then Fred Armisen broke all the seriousness.
Armisen was playing New York's blind governor David A. Paterson, who they had on earlier on the Update. It's not only a hilarious impersonation, but Saturday Night Live rarely did any edgy material anymore these days. Making fun of a blind person should do it.
Out of the cast, who do you think should replace Amy Poehler on Weekend Update?
