The sequel for Rob Zombie's Halloween is on a the fast track. Casting had just begun, but Dimension films is already setting up a release date for this 2009. It was previously rumored that the sequel might actually get a Halloween date this time to slap the Saw franchise away from their grip on the horror holiday, but it looks like that's not happening.
Halloween 2 will now hit theaters on August 28. It's another Summer release not unlike the first film, which was released on August 31 in 2007.
Honestly, is it so hard to expect a Halloween day release for a movie called Halloween? The Friday of October 30 is still empty, since Saw VI is actually opening a week before on the 23rd.
Taking its cue from John Carpenter's original sequel, Zombie's follow-up will also take place on the same night as the first movie, kicking off moments after the ending.
So far, only Tyler Mane has been confirmed to return (as Michael Myers), but expect Scout Taylor-Compton to also be back as his sister Laurie Strode.
