The Music of "Street Fighter IV"

akuma_sf_ivThe console release of Street Fighter IV is right around the corner. You're pumped. I'm pumped. Hell, my grandmother's pumped (and she doesn't even know it!) We've seen plenty of screenshots, watched countless in-game vids, and listened to enough developer commentary tracks to jack our hype through the roof.

But what about the music?

Thanks to YouTube user AmbientEleven, we get to throw on our headphones and listen to an extensive collection of tracks and remixes from Street Fighter IV. Isn't the Internet grand?

Some of the best (and worst) tracks available after the jump.

Note: In Street Fighter IV, character theme remixes play only during "rival fights."

The Best

Theme of Ryu 2

Metal Gear Solid meets Hadoken. This mix launches Ryu's classic theme to monumentally epic proportions. If this track alone doesn't get you amped to perform quarter-circle thumb rolls, then chances are, you're dead.

Theme of Bison

Does Shadaloo manufacture glow sticks? The opening is a bit techno-heavy for my tastes, but this track progresses into a sweet psycho crusher of horns and synths.

Theme of Akuma

Seriously, what needs to be said?

Theme of Abel

The piano arrangement starting at :40 is enough to warrant this track as one of the soundtrack's elite. Welcome to the SF roster, Abel.

The Worst

Indestructible (Menu Theme)

Did Ken, Ryu, and Guile form a boy band and not tell anyone? And I thought Marvel vs. Capcom 2 had nauseating music.

Theme of Crimson Viper

Far too much Devil May Cry influence on top of being completely incompatible for the Crimson Viper character. Bleh.
