BSG signed off with the largest ratings it has ever seen last Friday. With 2.4 million viewers turning in to the 2 hour, 11 minute long bittersweet sobfest (well, I sobbed), Sci Fi had a HUGE cable audience last Friday, a continuance of a trend that is being ignored by whatever doofus believes the network is going to struggle enough that they need to take the unbelievably stupid step of rebranding the network “SyFy”.

Also a Polish slang for syphilis. They're subconsciously telling us to stay away.
Kings had another strong episode, with the plans of King Silas becoming clearer and the role of David become more interesting. The producers have promised that David won't play sissy-happy-pants for the entire show, so expect to see a darker side emerging in upcoming weeks. After all, power corrupts. And if this man has been crowned by the butterflies and thinks he may be destined to be King, what type of power corrupts more absolutely than absolute power?
Not in any rush to stand out for being funny, The Simpsons had one of their most disappointing and Family Guy-ish shows ever last night. “In the Name of the Grandfather” is an episode where Homer and Grandpa (and the family) go to Ireland. They end up buying a pub. They can’t afford to keep it, so they make it a “smoke-easy” where people can illegally smoke while they drink. This causes them to be deported. Despite cameos by Once's Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, the episode was so unfunny that by the time Family Guy came on, it felt like we were watching the same show again, but less funny and with different characters. I can’t remember the last time I walked away from FOX’s Sunday Night, but it had better not happen again. Do you hear me, FOX!?
Major is it/isn’t it spoiler regarding LOST. I will leave you to do your own research at your own risk, but one of the major female characters on LOST was just announced to have signed on to join a majorly anticipated ABC pilot. What does this mean? It means instantly, ABC is saying she is “just a guest star” because we all know that the TV gods don’t allow actors/actresses to spread thin between two shows… even if they are on the same network. Hopefully this is a lie because of all the LOST women, she is so far removed from being a good candidate to write out that this makes me ill. You’d better just be meaningless internet gossip, news.
Speaking of LOST, how great was this week's episode? Interesting story revealed between Sayid and Ben. We learned this past week that Ben cut Sayid off, leaving him to fend for himself and find his own way, after using Sayid’s assassin prowess to cripple Charles Widmore’s attempts to hurt the Oceanic 6. After cutting Sayid off, he is ensnared by a bounty hunter (who works for who? We can’t be sure despite what we’ve been told) and brought back to the island (Unintentionally? Intentionally?). Once back on the island and meeting young Benjamin Linus, Sayid is freed from capture by him and then puts a bullet into young Ben’s chest, telling him, ”You were right. I am a killer.” Interesting enough that I will continue to research episodes like Seasons 3's "The Man Behind the Curtain" before making a formal opinion.
One more and then I'll conclude my fascination with LOST, but they recently sent out a casting call for extras to appear in a wedding that will happen at or around the finale of this season. Thoughts on who it may be? Theories are ranging anywhere from Juliette and Sawyer to Aaron and Ji-Yeon. What do you think?
South Park, as usual, found a way to stay relevant while skewering more than one topic in this week’s episode. Beginning with Stan depositing and instantly losing $100 at the local bank, the economy tanks, and Randy (Stan’s father) begins lecturing the town on stupid spending, stating that they all must keep their money and save it to fix the economy. Annoyed with this, Kyle speaks against this and states that the economy is merely an idea perpetuated by people, so people must go spend money to continue growing the economy. Kyle, as he preaches, looks more and more like Jesus, until we have the Last Supper scene, where Cartman (quite obviously Judas) tries to cover his betrayal before Kyle makes the ultimate sacrifice—using his limitless credit to buy off everyone’s mortgages so they may go back to spending money. Meanwhile, in possibly one of their most obvious digs at the government in recent times, Stan tries to complete the simple task of returning a “Margaritaville” machine and, upon getting to the U.S. Treasury and being told his Margaritaville is worth $90 Trillion dollars, learns that the government has been cutting the head off a chicken and releasing it to run around on a floor painted with options (including “Bailout”, “sell”, “Worth $90,000,000,000”, among others). Where it lands is what they do, and not surprisingly, the “Bailout” spot is particularly bloodied. Coy, guys. Coy.
