Netflix Now Streaming "South Park"

southpark-netflixHeads up, Netflixers. You can now watch the first nine seasons of South Park on Netflix InstantWatch as they were all just added to the selection today.

South Park masterminds Trey Parker and Matt Stone struck a deal with the online rental service earlier this month after considering other options such as Hulu. They referenced the new partnership on the Season 13 premiere a few weeks back with a few product placements. Aside from the featured pic, the Jonas Brothers also sing a love song with the lyrics, "Who Needs sex and drugs and partying / When we can cook a meal at home and watch Netflix."

Netflix is said to have paid cash to the duo for the previlege, in their effort to provide better selections in their streaming service. I wonder if people would care if they know that SouthParkStudios.com already has all of the episodes available for free.

I'd imagine it would be convenient, however, for those who don't have their computers set-up to display on their TVs but have Netflix devices such as the Roku player or the XBox 360 hooked up.

Big kudos to the guys for having the foresight of asking Comedy Central for a 50-50 even split on Non-TV revenues back in 1997, when DVD and internet streaming haven't entered the picture yet. Now they're raking it in with this deal.

It'd be interesting to see how successful it is, though. SouthParkStudios.com became a huge hit after only a year. Fans know that when you can watch the episodes there for free in high quality, why bother downloading pirated movie files?
