If you own an iPhone or iPod Touch, beware this: your upcoming update will cost you mad money if you're a downloadaholic.
With Apple's new update, it is going to allow all games developers to charge for any and all DLC (downloadable content). This may make you queasy, and it should. I always thought of Apple as the Anti-Microsoft—the good guys if you must—but apparently they have bit on the almighty dollar a little too much here. By allowing game-makers to charge for whatever DLC they make, it could allow certain fears to arise. And they are pretty damn scary when you think about it.
It could potentially allow game-makers to create unfinished games and make you pay for the rest of it in order to even get the full effect of a game. This is a universal fear from the gaming community. In fact, EA has recently jumped on board this idea along with many other distributors and has announced that in their upcoming Sims 3 for the iPhone and iTouch, they will be charging at least $0.99 for additional clothing and furniture. Do you have the money to afford all that additional stuff?
What if you get a Grand Theft Auto game on there and they charge for additional guns or vehicles? How f--ked up does that sound just saying it? Apple is playing with major fire here, while I understand a company wanting to make an extra buck, they are doing it at great—and I mean GREAT—expense to their loyal customers.
For shame, Apple, for shame...
