David Lynch and Moby Really Like Old Factories

This video from David Lynch Foundation TV started out as a sit-down interview between Moby and David Lynch talking about how Moby's latest album Wait for Me is inspired and influenced by Lynch. Halfway into the video, though, it subtly turns into what looks like a scene from a David Lynch movie, when they start talking about how much they love old abandoned factories. The look of pride and pure joy on Lynch's face as Moby describes his old squatting joint is just... Lynchian.

Throughout the making of the album, Moby sent a couple of tracks to Lynch for him to listen. Lynch found them "thrilling" and liked one of them enough to make an animated video for it in the style of his cartoon series Dumbland. This is supposedly the first single out of the album, titled "Shot in the Back of the Head."

Oddly enough, not being a fan of Moby and being a big fan of Lynch, I am unimpressed with the video and yet digging the song. Maybe it has something to do with it sounding a hell of a lot like Mogwai, but if this is the kind of stuff Moby conjures up when he's thinking of Lynch, maybe we should lock him up in a closet with Blue Velvet and Lost Highway before he records his next album, see what happens.

As a bonus, here's a video of Moby and David Lynch jamming in a studio together.

Wait for Me comes out June 30th.
