If you're not already excited for the upcoming Star Trek reboot, I'll do my best to help you out. Below you'll find a 5 minute interview between Chris Pine (Captain Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock) and an entirely too enthusiastic interviewer from Access Hollywood. Plenty of television interviewers play the "I'm a big fan of this series" card to start off the interview on a positive note - but here Pine and Quinto find themselves a bit overwhelmed by the sheer bug-eyed Trekkism of their host.
It'd be generous of me to call this a "battle of wits". I think it's a nice change of pace from the cookie-cutter formula of interview-paid-for-by-studio-for-promotion-of-new-film-on-entertainment-news-show. Although, considering it was filmed solely for Access Hollywood's Hulu page, I'm not surprised the stars and interviewer were allowed to be a little off the wall.
Most importantly, the interview shows us the chemistry between Pine and Quinto. There have been other pieces showcasing their camraderie but none quite as loose and revealing as this one. Considering how important that friendship is to both the onscreen dynamic and the future of a franchise, I think this interview is a good sign of things to come for the new Star Trek series. There are a few Shatner and Nimoy joint interviews floating around on YouTube; now, the dynamic isn't quite the same as the duo doesn't have a third party to rally against (like Access Hollywood hosts or Klingons) but seeing how they interact makes for an interesting comparison to the interview above.
