Trailer for Werner Herzog's "Bad Lieutenant" Remake

I have no idea where this suddenly came from, but apparently it's been floating on YouTube for almost a whole month without going noticed (only 303 views as of writing). This is a trailer for Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, Werner Herzog's remake of Abel Ferrara's infamous 1992 film starring Harvey Keitel. It's probably a leak or something, so it might get pulled any minute. Watch it now:

Yeah. What the wow? I'm not sure what to make of that. I feel like I just swallowed theĀ  sound of a thousand souls choking in unison. At this point I'm used to Nicolas Cage's name associated with craptacular movies, but I'm madly curious as to what the hell drew Herzog to direct this. Especially if we're to believe his claim that he has never seen nor heard of the original.

A remake written by a TV writer from Law & Order, with a terrible cast, directed by Werner Herzog. I suppose it just begs to be seen. Meanwhile, Abel Ferrara is not happy. After the film was announced last year at Cannes, Ferrara immediately wished for the people involved to board an exploding streetcar and go to hell. Judging from this trailer, they went already, and brought something back.

In the interest of fairness, for whatever it's worth, I do need to stress again that there's a strong possibility of this being a leaked and unfinished trailer. Maybe the "real" trailer will strike a different chord. Maybe.
