Prepare the Squee: "Toy Story 3" Teaser

Here's the teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 that started playing today before Up. You may now jump around joyfully and then proceed to weep knowing that it's still over a year away.

Obviously, it's a specially made preview that's not going to be part of the movie, which issomething of a tradition with Pixar films. Great to see Luxo, Jr.'s ball there as the O. The voice cast is back, sans Jim Varney (Slinky) and Joe Ranft (Wheezy), both of whom unfortunately passed away.

Pixar being Pixar, they're not just going to make a sequel that simply continues the adventure of Woody and Buzz in Andy's house again. The story takes the characters to a new setting with a sad set-up. It's been 14 years since the original movie. Andy has grown up and is going off to college. Obviously he can't take his toys with him, so they're dumped to a local daycare center. This was the main conflict in Toy Story 2, if you remember, the fear that one day Andy will grow up and not love his toys anymore. Looks like Pixar's actually going to show that.

This is already upsetting many Toy Story fans around the web, which I suspect is exactly why they've chosen to do this. It will actually incite an emotional reaction. Can't wait? Neither could I. Imagine the great wealth of stories they can portray with the wide range of kids dropped off at daycare.
