Another classic example of great animation featured in Walt Disney's early Silly Symphony cartoons, the 1935 short Broken Toys is like a precursor to the works of Jan Svenkmajer, as it deals with the spirits of the discarded. The creativity and technical excellence displayed here is one of the many reasons why Disney became the powerhouse name that it is 70 years later. Warning: Broken Toys also contains a product of the era, which some would call politically incorrect, others would say racist. It's relatively mild compared to the other cartoons produced at the time, though.
