New Trailer & Poster for 'Abduction' Starring Taylor Lautner

While the main Taylor Lautner project I'm most curious about is Stretch Armstrong, it's always interesting to see where stars go after they become known for roles in mega-franchises (and for the sake of Lautner, we're not counting the atrocious Valentine's Day). Just as Robert Pattinson is making headway in Water for Elephants and Ashley Greene is zipping along with Skateland, Lautner now has Abduction approaching, and the poster and trailer do a bit to stir up interest. It seems like director John Singleton has made his own little Bourne Identity starring the likes of Lautner, Sigourney Weaver, Maria Bello, and Alfred Molina.

To check out the official synopsis, trailer, poster, and our thoughts on both, read on...

Here's the official synopsis:

For as long as he can remember, Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) has had the uneasy feeling that he's living someone else's life. When he stumbles upon an image of himself as a little boy on a missing persons website, all of Nathan's darkest fears come true: he realizes his parents are not his own and his life is a lie, carefully fabricated to hide something more mysterious and dangerous than he could have ever imagined.

Just as he begins to piece together his true identity, Nathan is targeted by a team of trained killers, forcing him on the run with the only person he can trust, his neighbor, Karen (Lily Collins). Every second counts as Nathan and Karen race to evade an army of assassins and federal operatives. But as his opponents close in, Nathan realizes that the only way he'll survive – and solve the mystery of his elusive biological father – is to stop running and take matters into his own hands.

While still not a big fan of his nearly expression-free acting, the plot and supporting cast look promising. After all, we've all thought/wished we were adopted at one point in our life, and this seems like an interesting twist on the Bourne-an identity quandary. Compounding my interest is John Singleton who's given us films like Four Brothers and Boyz n the Hood; the man knows how to build up dramatic tension, so here's hoping he's does that well enough at the film's start so the action has a little bit of heft. And then there's Molina and Weaver, two greats filling out the cast. Again, even if we're not huge Taylor Lautner fans after his Twilight work, Abduction seems like a decent thriller and a step in the right direction.

He's a TV junkie with a penchant for watching the same movie six times in one sitting. If you really want to understand him you need to have grown up on Sgt. Bilko, Alien, Jurassic Park and Five Easy Pieces playing in an infinite loop. Recommend something to him - he'll watch it.
