Something 'Star Wars' This Way Comes on May 4th

George Lucas does love himself a good hype machine. He waited forever and teased the release of Star Wars' Blu-ray release date (September 16th, 2011), and now he's got a new little project out for fans to either anticipate, speculate, or bemoan. If you head on over to the Star Wars webpage, there's a special little section devoted to teasing some as of yet undisclosed event scheduled for May 4th. It's less than two days away, and since there hasn't been any big news of a Star Wars event until just now, Lucas is hoping to stir fans to a frenzy.

So far, all that's been released is an image and the tagline: "On May 4th, All Will Be Revealed"

Considering the image above has a Blu-ray stamp on it, our two and best guesses are that we're finally going to get a full layout of what to expect in the forthcoming Blu-ray boxsets or from the supposedly upcoming live-action Star Wars TV series. Now, as George Lucas has bilked his Star Wars fanbase of any and all remaining support via a few less than stellar spin-offs and prequels, the franchise really can't take too many more hits.

On that note, the live-action series has to be either incredible, or the Blu-ray sets need to be loaded with so many new and amazing extras that fans will finally feel some modicum of respect radiating their way from the Lucas camp, whereas before, all Lucas gave them was a slap in the face with a revisionist version of Star Wars history.

I considered myself a Star Wars fan throughout my childhood, but George Lucas makes it really hard sometimes.

He's a TV junkie with a penchant for watching the same movie six times in one sitting. If you really want to understand him you need to have grown up on Sgt. Bilko, Alien, Jurassic Park and Five Easy Pieces playing in an infinite loop. Recommend something to him - he'll watch it.
