Were the 80s the Golden Age of music? Perhaps. Probably not, but perhaps, and accordingly it's music has seen more than its fair share of tributes from modern artists. Taking his swing at the music from the "Decade of Excess", Duncan Sheik's upcoming album Covers 80s, arriving on shelves on June 7th, will feature Sheik's takes on hits from artists like Depeche Mode, The Cure, and New Order. It's a pretty great tracklist that tackles a good sampling of the 80s flavor.

For those of you unfamiliar with Duncan Sheik, here's his official press bio:
Duncan Sheik launched his musical career in 1996 with his self-titled debut, which spawned the radio mainstay "Barely Breathing" and earned a Grammy nomination for "Best Male Vocal Performance, Pop". He's since released four studio albums, and has earned critical accolades for his unique brand of folk-pop music. Sheik's last studio album was 2006's White Limousine. He also released a 2-CD collection of songs entitled Brighter/Later: A Duncan Sheik Anthology. Sheik then composed the original score and collaborated with lyricist Steven Sater on the music for Spring Awakening, a musical that went on to win eight Tony Awards. He followed Spring Awakening by composing the music and co-writing lyrics for the musical theater production Whisper House, which was directed by Peter Askin (Hedwig & the Angry Inch) and written by Kyle Jarrow.
