As often as we can remember to (we dare not make promises of consistency), we'll be highlighting the music videos of artists that have either been recommended to us, we've stumbled across organically, or however. You know how music is today, you stumble across an artist and suddenly they're all you feel like listening to. For a week. Then BAM. A new challenger! The real deciding factor is if their music videos caught our eye. And, since we figure music videos give you something to entertain the eyes in your head, this is a fun way to introduce new artists to new people...so here we go.
When the Beatles came stateside they called it a "British invasion", now it's just another week. with the resurgence in American fascination with Britrock, it can be hard to sift through all the different acts and find one that really stands out. Coldplay. Muse. Snow Patrol (Irish, I know, but same idea). The Austin-based Sounds Under Radio takes the traditional Britrock arena anthem sound and makes it their own. SUR consists of Lang Freeman (vocals, guitar), Bradley Oliver (bass, keyboard), Doug Wilson (guitar), and Sonny Sanchez (drums).
How do they compare against the pantheon of modern and natural Britrock? You decide.
Here's the video for their single "Sing". After watching this video and listening to the sound, watch their video for "Sell Out", below, and notice how much softer their sound has gotten.
Then we have their video for "Sell Out" from three years back with a noticeably less Britrock sound, but it's still there and not hard to see how it evolved into "Sing".
