Phil Hartman Appreciation Day

Thirteen years ago today, on May 28, 1998, Phil Hartman was murdered by his wife, and the world lost one hell of a funny man. Hartman had a golden voice that could make just about anything sound sarcastic or pretentious and consequently everything he starred in was a little bit funnier because of him. If not a lot funnier. Saturday Night Live, NewsRadio, The Simpsons, and lots of films have cemented Hartman's legacy in the world of comedy and his presence is one that is missed every time you watch a classic clip from any of those programs.

In honor of today, which we've decided should be called "Phil Hartman Appreciation Day", we've collected a few clips from his appearances on his regular programs, talk shows, and even a 1996 McDonalds commercial just for good measure. So without further ado, enjoy some Phil Hartman goodness.

He's a TV junkie with a penchant for watching the same movie six times in one sitting. If you really want to understand him you need to have grown up on Sgt. Bilko, Alien, Jurassic Park and Five Easy Pieces playing in an infinite loop. Recommend something to him - he'll watch it.
