Last February, composer Bear McCreary published the Battlestar Galactica piano songbook, which translates 19 of the amazing score he'd done on the show into piano solo arrangements. Since then, McCreary has created a YouTube account to promote the book and began posting videos of him playing select songs.
The BSG score is some of the best music ever composed for television, and it's also McCreary's big break. Since then, he'd done shows like The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Human Target, The Walking Dead, The Cape and Eureka. In short, he is the sound a geek hears when the gates of heaven bursts open.
No idea how many of these he'll do, but I can't wait until he uploads a video of him playing my favorite song, "Wander My Friends," which I know is in the songbook. When that happens, I will probably start crying before I can even press play.
Until then, here are videos of him playing "Prelude to War," "Elegy," "Battlestar Sonatica," and "Something Dark is Coming."
