Music Video Spotlight: Vital

vital

California singer/songwriter Duranta Cook chose the name Vital for his musical persona based on his opinion of the intrinsic and imminent value that he brings to the world of music. Though Vital may be selling himself a bit too high based on that remark, his debut EP released last month is no doubt a unique and pleasurable collection. Each of the five songs on the Vital EP are beautiful, complex tracks that are distinctly different from one another. From smooth electronic aided compositions to whimsical sing alongs, this former amateur hip-hop artist has proven that he can write and perform a varied collection of musical styles and genres.

One of the coolest aspects of Vital’s EP though is the visual aid that accompanies and brings to life two of the EP’s tracks in music video form.

The first video released by Vital was for the song “Airport.” More than just a collection of indelible images, the video clips that are used perfectly match the dynamics of the music that is playing behind it.

Featuring Vital himself in the deep, colorful depths of space, the video for “Saying” is the more visually stunning of the two. It also helps that “Saying” is the most enjoyable track off of the entire EP.

If you’re interested in listening to the Vital EP from start to finish, you're in luck. It can be streamed in its entirety below courtesy of Soundcloud and Blacksky Records.
