Magnolia’s fun little dramatic comedy Ceremony offers some great performances from Lee Pace and Uma Thurman, but it’s Michael Angarano’s fast-talking that makes the film great. As much a story about two friends who’ve grown apart, Ceremony also has a fractured romance about two people whose ages drove them apart. Getting married is supposed to be the happiest time of Zoe’s life but not when her much younger ex-lover Sam shows up to win her back and sabotage her wedding to the seemingly perfect man. Sam has more to worry about though then just his ex getting married and moving on, having dragged his best friend along under the preconceived notion that they were going on a road trip to mend their strained friendship. Now Sam must learn the true meaning of love and friendship and save both relationships before they end terribly wrong.
