What if? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anders Nelson

A question has been bouncing around my head ever since I saw The Dark Knight on that opening Friday, and has only grown more persistent in the time since: would the film have been better if it had been directed by David Fincher as opposed to Christopher Nolan? Fincher, best known for Se7en, Fight Club, and Zodiac, got his start in music videos and has made imposing, frightening city-scapes his stock in trade. After consulting a number of people, all of whom agreed with my conclusion, I have decided to state my case in as fair and judicious a way as possible.

Fast As Fast Can Be!!! PDF Print E-mail

jackalope.jpgFor some reason while doing some mundane work around the house this old saying popped in to my head..."Fast as fat can be...you'll never catch me".

I thougtht and thought for awhile where was that from.  Then all of a sudden it hit me.  Jackalope!

Knowing that the internet is a wealth of information from both past and present I wondered if I would find any clips.  Sure enough, and here it is.

Just thought I'd share a random thought with you all.

I Hope They Don't Screw Up The Arrested Development Movie PDF Print E-mail

Like many AD fans, I was saddened by the cancellation of the smartest, wackiest, most original television program I had ever seen.  With a show that got universal praise and is home to a devoted fan base, Fox limped on the excuse of poor ratings to flush my beloved treasure down the toilet.  Well, gee, Fox, when you reschedule a show so much that it’s never in the same time slot for more than two episodes, how do you expect to build ratings?

Dear Playa Hata's: In Defense of Sam Raimi PDF Print E-mail

I gotta say, I don't quite get it.

Spider-Man 3 came out about a year ago now, and still there are thousands, if not millions of film fans who seem to have forgotten Samuel Raimi's previous efforts. I for one loved Spider-Man 3, and know many people that did as well. Some of my cowriters here didn't, but that's to be expected, I'd say. But with the film still having a 61% positive rating on RottenTomatoes, you wouldn't expect people to consider it the overwhelming catastrophe they seem to. Anyone who knows me knows that the critical consensus means nothing to me, but even those like me that love the film seldom stand up for it when it's being bashed so harshly in film junkie roundtables (and I've been party to many of them). Regardless of what that film did or didn't do, I think it's time to take a look at Sam's track record prior to Spidey 3.

Mermaid Sex PDF Print E-mail

Similar to Mr. Craig’s annoyance with the God of Children’s Entertainment, I recently saw a Disney ad that caused me no shortage of mental turmoil. And anguish. And disappointment.

“See how it all started” read the billboard hovering in the Astoria haze. See how what all started? Ariel. The Little Mermaid. I stopped in my path. I thought for a second. See how Ariel started.

Hot DAMN!

My Aggravation With Disney PDF Print E-mail

Disney has been a part of my life since I was a child.  I remember watching Jungle Book, Bambi, Snow White and the list goes on and on and on.disneydvd.jpg

With Disney animated movies I pretty much never have to worry about there being inappropriate content.  Come to think of it, there isn't one Disney animated movie that would cause me concern to have my child view it.  So with all these positives, what could possibly be wrong with a Disney movie you say?

You don't have to be a parent to see or understand this, but being one does help.  Follow me along here for a moment...

Thoughts on the Friday the 13th PDF Print E-mail
Written by SaulB

You know, it's funny... all this hate over a Friday the 13th remake, and I don't quite understand why. A few reasons, really...

While it didn't invent the slasher by any means, Friday the 13th (1980) kick-started the genre somethin' fierce. More than eighty slashers within the next year? That's pretty crazy. We didnn't see that many Saw rip-offs before Saw II. Any, that's not really what I'm trying to say. This is:

Friday the 13th has been remade absolutely no less than twice. The first two sequels followed the same exact series of events in the same exact order and you could predict the shameful rehash endings coming the first time you saw them.

Uber Zombie: The Quest for Brains

Behold the human brain. The holder of memories. The coordinator of bodily function. The main source of nourishment. In the world of Zombies, there is no food pyramid – only a giant triangle with the word “Brains” scrawled almost incomprehensibly with finger scratches. Stumbling numbly through the vast cityscapes Zombies lead hard lives sometimes going weeks between each meal. What holds true in the most savage wilderness can be applied to the brain-scavenging life in the modern concrete jungle: eat or be eaten. For our 12 Zombie contestants the stakes have never been higher.

Tampa Bay? Seriously? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Tyler Barlass

I may be premature with this, actually I may very well be making a big deal out of nothing; but we're more than half done with the baseball season and Tampa Bay is still the first place team in their division. I know, I know, some of you that are reading this right now may not know or even care to know the first thing about Major League Baseball; actually there are probably very few of our loyal readers that actually do. But this is a development that's just too crazy for me not to touch upon.
