The Moment of Silence is the next great example of a 3rd personadventure game. It follows the tradition of other games like PoliceQuest, CSI, Myst, and all the other games of its genre. This particulargame is set in the near future of New York City in 2044. Theprotagonist is an average man: Peter Wright, an advertising head of theGovernment's 'Freedom of Speech' program. It is found out after theinitial cut screen of a ‘SWAT team’ arresting one of his neighbors thathe is also trying to get over the loss of his own family. The game isthen set into motion as Peter must uncover the truth behind thismysterious disappearance as he becomes drawn deeper into the world ofsecrecy, power, and corruption.

The controls are actually a bit awkward for people that aren’t usedto this type of game. It’s primarily controlled by the mouse in a pointand walk/interact interface. It has the familiar inventory bar likemost games of this type have. So interface and control wise the game ispretty much just like every other game.

What sets this game apart from its brethren are the graphics andsound. The mix of animation and fully rendered backdrops make this gameperhaps the best looking game of its type today. It mixes both realworld locations as well as fictitious ones to create a very immersiveand most importantly convincing game world. Not only do you have thenormal puzzle solving aspects of the game but there are many dialogchoices, integrated action sequences, and cinematic scenes thatabsolutely make this game play like a Hollywood thriller.

A shining star for this game is its sound and voiceovers. TheMoment of Silence offers over eight hours of professional voiceoversthat absolutely drive the drama and story on throughout the game.

I have enjoyed playing this game immensely, and I’m not the type ofgamer to pick up a game in this genre. The added easter eggs make thisa very playable and entertaining game, but of course since it’s anaction game there isn’t that much replay value.
