Win the First Season of "Jane the Virgin" on DVD

janevirgin_banner

Last fall, one of the most refreshing little comedies to make its debut was the CW's Jane the Virgin, a telenovela for English-speaking audiences that's just good enough to make people consider giving soap operas another try (but don't, none of them are this funny). The show's excellence hinges on some solid writing, a saucy Latino narrator (think Ron Howard in Arrested Development, but with a swarthy accent), and the breakout performance of Gina Rodriguez as the virginal Jane who is impregnated via a medical mishap. The show's first season goes all over the place in the lead-up to the birth of the child, and it's consistently entertaining from start to finish.

Headin' On Down to "South Park" Gonna Give Season 16 Away

spark16_banner

17 years ago, Trey Parker and Matt Stone created South Park, and chances are they had no idea that it would go on to rival The Simpsons in terms of its longevity and social commentary. As shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons further run themselves into the ground with tired formula or writing that just doesn't have the same intelligence it once did, South Park still manages to hit episodes out of the park and elicit belly laughs more often than not. It's still going strong, with its 17th season having kicked off last week. If you're looking to catch up on the last season or are just a fan, then you're in luck because we've got two copies of the 16th season of South Park on DVD and we're giving them away to two lucky readers.

**ENDED** Win a Blu-ray Copy of Studio Ghibli's "From Up on Poppy Hill"

poppy_hill_banner

Right now, no one is making 2D animated features on the level that Studio Ghibli is, and it's due in no small part to the brilliance of Hayao Miyazaki, who has brought us such animated masterpieces as Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and the current release creating a stir in Japan, The Wind Rises. From Up on Poppy Hill is proof that the fruit hasn't fallen far from the tree as Hayao's son Goro Miyazaki has now given us his second Directorial effort (from a script written by his father) which is quite a bit better than his still quite beautiful first try, Tales from Earthsea. The story of an imperiled young friendship boasts a huge voice cast of Gillian Anderson, Beau Bridges, Jamie Lee Curtis, Aubrey Plaza, Christina Hendricks, and more.

In anticipation of From Up on Poppy Hill's arrival on Blu-ray and DVD on September 3rd, we'rd giving away 3 Blu-ray/DVD combo packs of the movie. If you want to know how to win, keep reading. Or, if you're the impatient type, hop on over to Amazon and pre-order it now.

See and Win Earth Like You've Never Seen or Won It Before

earth_banner

Yuri Gagarin, Sally Ride, John Glenn, and other spacefaring humans have seen Earth in a way many of us likely never will. Sure, we'll see hi-res photos of our shiny blue marble taken from satellite's and space-roaming telescopes, but something always gets lost in translation when viewing a grainy still photograph. NOVA's recent special "Earth from Space" rectifies that shortcoming slightly with stunning HD footage of our planet spinning in the deep, dark oblivion while studying the larger systems of the planet and how they interact and shape life. At the very least it's a compelling substitute for that fireplace or aquarium screensaver disc you put in when company comes over, and at most it's just utterly beautiful.

Kung Fu, Zombies, Counterfeiters, & Spies in One Giveaway

four_Banner_2012

It's not often you get a solid genre crossover movie. While Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright have made a (wildly entertaining) hobby out of it, it's otherwise an uncommon occurrence. Therefore it's something of a pleasure for us to introduce to you Gordon Chan's The Four, which crosses espionage with superheroes, a counterfeiting scandal, kung fu, and zombies. If it seems a bit eclectic, that's because it is, but wonderfully so. The Four stars Deng Chao, Liu Yi Fei, Collin Chou, Ronald Cheng, and Anthony Wong, and it's all kinds of crazy. If you enjoy flicks like Woochi: The Demon Slayer or Kung Fu Hustle, The Four will be right up your alley.

And if you want a copy, you're in luck as we're giving three away on Blu-ray. To find out how you can win, just keep reading.

Emancipate a Blu-ray Copy of "Lincoln" From Us

lincoln_banner

Five months and two weeks ago, Steven Spielberg brought forth into our cinemas Lincoln, a biopic of our 16th president as played by Daniel Day-Lewis. And when I say played by Daniel Day-Lewis, what I really mean is that Day-Lewis borrowed a time machine and went back in time to steal Lincoln's identity, body, mind, and mannerisms to give us one of the most disturbingly realistic portrayals of Abraham Lincoln ever. For all of that time traveling effort, Day-Lewis won himself a Best Actor Oscar (though it's entirely possible he kept going back in time and altering the past until he achieved that outcome, but that's another conversation altogether). The film is packed with some great performances by the likes of Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and if you haven't seen it yet, or you have and you liked it, this is your chance to own it.

We're giving away two Blu-ray and DVD combo packs of Lincoln, and if you want to win one, just keep reading.

The "We're Men, Manly Men, Formerly in Tights" Blu-ray Giveaway

manly_men_banner

Who needs to dress up in tights to fight the forces of evil? That's silly superhero stuff. Real men run around in the woods and dive behind convenient pieces of cover as they fire guns wildly into the air. It's a proud tradition championed by the likes of Sylvester Stallone (First Blood), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Predator), and many others, and today you have a chance to win two movies in that prestigious legacy: last year's Red Dawn and this year's The Marine: Homefront. Now, don't be fooled, just because the stars of both of these films (Chris Hemsworth and Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin) dress up in tights regularly (as Thor or for the WWE), they're still men. Manly men. They're men in tights. Yeah! But no matter the medium, they're always on guard defending the people's rights. Much respect to Mel Brooks.

To find out how how you can win Blu-ray copies of Red Dawn and The Marine: Homefront, just keep reading.

Got to Get Tough, Yo Joe. Win a G.I. Joe Costume, Let Your Kid Be the Coolest Ninja in the Theater

gijoe_Ret_banner

Let's not kid ourselves here: the first G.I. Joe movie was awful if you didn't view it as anything more than action flick silliness with a loose connection to a beloved toy franchise that's fluctuated in and out of the public consciousness for the last three decades. The next installment in the live-action film series, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, directed by Jon M. Chu and loaded with stars like Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, RZA, Walton, Goggins, Ray Stevenson and more, looks immensely better than its predecessor just based on the trailers alone and it looks like it could be a lot of fun. You know what's even more fun though? Going to the theater dressed as a Joe.

Courtesy of CostumeExpress.com, we're giving away kids Snake Eyes and Jinx costumes with accompanying swords, sais, and gloves. If you want to win, just keep reading.

Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon Are The Grand Prize

digimon_banner

Pokemon's more story-driven, mature cousin Digimon: Digital Monsters had a good run back in the late 90s and early aughts, but it never got much better than its second season where it got to take advantage of the pre-established world and just dive full in to the mythology. It managed to rise to the top of the still-increasing pile of monster battle cartoons that have been pouring into the states ever since Japan sent us Pokemon, and it also represents a fairly strong carton overall. If you're a fan or want to give the series a try, we've got one grand prize copy of the full second season as well as three runner-up prize copies of Digimon Adventure: Volume 2 (from the first season, they're essentially the episodes where the series starts to come into its own).

To find out how you can win, just keep reading.
