Have the Time of Your Life and Owe It All to Blu

dirty_dancing_banner

In case you've never seen Dirty Dancing and have consequently never had all the times of your life that it promises (specifically "the" time), it can best be summarized by this excerpt from How I Met Your Mother.

"Hey... why don't you tell us again about your first time at the camp in the Catskills."
"Baby and her family spent every summer at Kellerman's. Her dad did not approve of our love."
"Did anyone put Baby in a corner?"
"Oh, God, no. What can I say, I...had...the time of my life. True story."

It's just that simple, except for the part where Neil Patrick Harris romances a young Jennifer Grey while teaching her how to dance. The reason that's a fiction (besides the fact that it's actually Patrick Swayze) is because at that age NPH was still just a doctor and had nowhere near the dance experience required to be hired by the elite Kellerman's. Now, there's also a sequel, and both are included in the Dirty Dancing 2-Film Collection we're giving away on Blu-ray. To find out how you can win it, just keep reading.

Get Your Own Set of "Hell on Wheels" on Blu-ray

fphellwheels

Pop culture has given us many takes on mankind's transportation innovation known as the train; whether you're going off the rails on a crazy one or hallucinating that trains are talking to your children on PBS, they've remained a meaningful part of modern culture. And yet, some of the best films and television shows concentrate more on the industrial legacy that laid the tracks across the face of the country. On the funny side you have Blazing Saddles, and then, on the more badass serious side you have AMC's Hell on Wheels, a look at the wild, corrupt culture surrounding the construction of America's first transnational system of travel. Despite great performances by Anson Mount, Colm Meaney, Common and others, and some epic writing, Hell on Wheels's first season failed to gather as much steam as its other AMC compatriots when it came to public awareness.

To help fix that and prepare you for its imminent second season, we're giving away one copy of the premiere season on Blu-ray.

Steal a Copy of "White Collar: Season 3" on DVD

white_collar_banner

Okay, well, it's kind of like stealing, in that you'll be getting White Collar's third season for free and thus not having to pay to watch Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay track down elite thieves as Neal Caffrey, a "reformed" thief, and Peter Burke, an FBI agent, respectively. In its third season, the relationship between the two becomes more strained than ever due to Neal's increasingly secretive nature, the pressure from his trusted friend Mozzie (Willie Garson) to escape the grip of the feds, and the looming threat of a larger conspiracy that threatens to bring thieves and agents alike into the line of fire.

The third season debuts on DVD June 5th, and to celebrate that fact we're giving away three copies on DVD. To find out how you can snag one from right out beneath our noses, just keep reading.

Live the Spy Life with "Burn Notice: Season 5" on DVD

burn_notice_s5_banner

His name is Michael Weston. He used to used to be a spy. No, that's not a typo but rather a little bit of proof that even Burn Notice's writers tired of the "client-per-episode" formula and decided that Michael's quest to be reinstated  meaning he was disavowed, but he's back again. Unfortunately for him, getting back in the CIA doesn't make his life easier. At least when he was out from under the CIA's wing the bright Miami sun made it clear who were his friends and who were his foes, but back in the ranks of the shadowy organization, everything is a shade of grey. The fifth season is a noticeable change for the show, but it remains as solid a television spy thriller as ever.

With the sixth season set to start on June 14th, the 5th season hits DVD on June 5th and we've got three copies to give away. To find out how you can win one, just keep reading.

Win Two Lifetime Movies on DVD

girl_Fight_banner

Ah Lifetime, the network for women that creates features about women being abused, beaten, murdered, cheated on, or doing their best in a single parent situation. You have to start wondering if someone at Lifetime fails to understand exactly how one empowers women. Is the strategy to produce a number of true cautionary tales that will hopefully help women recognize the bad situations they're in? I have to believe there's an easier way to do that than two films, starring Anne Heche or Jennifer Grey, where a girl receives a beating broadcast online or a bunch of teens robbing celebrities much to a single mother's chagrin. Seriously Lifetime, what's going on over there?

Whatever the case may be, we're giving away the Lifetime movies Girl Fight and The Bling Ring on DVD, and if you want to find out how to win them just keep reading.

The "Unforgiven" Blu-ray Giveaway

unforgiven_banner

Eastwood's western masterstroke Unforgiven boasts one of the actor turned director's best forays pulling double duty, and it has the added prestige of winning 4 Academy Awards and featuring great performances by Gene Hackman (who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar) and Morgan Freeman. It's enough to make you wonder if he'll ever revisit that territory or if the days of Eastwood westerns are over in favor of more contemporary outings like Gran Torino and Million Dollar Baby. If they are, it's a true shame, but his recent output has plenty of merit too, so it's not a total loss. Are you a fan of Eastwood's western oeuvre? If so, you're in luck: we're giving away a copy of the recently released Blu-ray 20th Anniversary Book edition of Unforgiven.

Play the Music, Light the Lights, It's Time to Win "The Muppets"...

muppets_2011_banner

It's time to put on make up. It's time to dress up right. It's time to raise the curtain on The Muppet Show tonight. Sadly, those days are long past (unless you own the show on DVD, then it's always), but Jim Henson's beloved troupe got a serious revival last year thanks to Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller and their film The Muppets. There was no better way to wash away the decade-long drought of good Muppet entertainment, that reached its lowest low with Muppets in Space, than a new take that reminds us why we fell in love with the felted frog and friends all those years ago. If it's not already clear, we love The Muppets, and we'd like to share said love with our readers by giving away two copies of The Muppets in the Wocka Wocka Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy combo pack.

Win "We Bought a Zoo" in Book and DVD Form

we_bought_zoo_banner

Sometimes people need a change of scenery, and then sometimes people take that idea and get a bit carried way, perhaps taking on a teensy bit more than they bargained for. Such is the case in We Bought a Zoo, the true story of Benjamin Mee who, while struggling with the recent loss of his wife, uprooted his two kids and moved them to a new house...the backyard of which just happened to be a private zoo. It sounds like the kind of zany idea out of a children's book, but it's all true, and so Director Cameron Crowe took the story and made it into a heartwarming film starring Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, and Thomas Haden Church. To celebrate its recent release, we're giving away two prize packs which include both the original book and the film on DVD.

The Conceivable, Altogether Possible "Ancient Aliens" Giveaway

ancient_aliens_s3_banner

It's possible that aliens came to Earth and used dinosaurs to till the fields in the earliest agriculture known to man. It has been theorized that extraterrestrial intelligence was responsible for the design and construction of some of our planets most mysterious structures (the pyramids, the Mega Mall, etc.). If this is your kind of conjecture, then you just might want to check out History Channel's Ancient Aliens which examines any and all theories relating to alien interference here on planet Earth, no matter how far fetched they may seem. It's now in its fourth season, and if you want to get caught up, you can take a copy of the third season off our hands.

Let ABC's New Show "GCB" Texify You

GCB_banner

First off, let us clarify that we here at JustPressPlay are well aware that "Texify" is not a word, as much as ABC and/or Texas might want it to be. What's even more disconcerting, is not that we're unsure of what Texify means, but we don't even know what GCB, the name of the show, stands for. A quick Googling returned the following options: German Conference on Bioinformatics, Gaming Control Board, Gas Circuit Breaker, a McDonalds sandwich launched in China, and so on. We're pretty sure none of those is the answer. However, judging from the posters for the show featuring Kristin Chenoweth and a cross, and a general cast of Leslie Bibb and Annie Potts, we're willing to bet it's something like "Good Christian Boys", "Good Christian Belles", or "Good Christian Biohazard", etc. The second one is our favorite to win given the context - but "Biohazard" would be cool too.

GCB starts on March 4th and to help get you in the mood for GCB (maybe it's a hallucinogenic drug?) we're giving away a prize pack for the ladies.
