Since the beginning of time people have been taking things that alreadyexist and enhancing them. The result is often a polished product thatproves to be more useful than its predecessor. This is indeed the casewith CDV’s release of it’s City Life: World Edition title.

While at first glance the title may appear to be a lot like EA Games Sim City;it offers game play that far surpasses its counterpart. There is muchmore to this game than meets the eye. In addition to building a citythe gamer will be tasked with satisfying the city’s residents.

It’s no mystery that some people just can’t get along with othersand that’s ultimately the case here. The residents are divided into sixgroup that consist of elite, suits, radical chic, blue collars, fringe, and have nots. Each group has a certain class of people they distain. This means that a gamer will need to have separate neighborhoods.

It doesn’t stop there however. These people are so picky that theydon’t want to shop, eat, or work in the same places as each other. While building the city the player will notice that each building orbusiness caters to a certain class of person. They’ll all need their own shopping centers, restaurants, and work places.

The happiness of the resident’s surroundings also includes thingssuch as their safety, healthcare, education, etc. A hospital, policedepartment, high school, and the like are only ableto service so much of an area. This requires a gamer to build severalof these service oriented buildings throughout the city.

As the game advances buildings will be unlocked. This allows formore services to be offered to each social group. There are many thingsthat can be unveiled while City Life progresses. There areseveral different types of hospitals, police departments, firedepartments, schools, and businesses. It truly gives the prospectivegamer unlimited possibilities.

City Life can be played in scenario mode or in free-style play. Inorder to unlock buildings the scenario is a requirement. The gamesscenario mode is much more difficult than that of its counterpart. Ifyou’re looking for more of a challenge than some strategy games offer –this is your one-stop shop.

The graphics are something to be marveled at. Like most games, thebird’s eye view of the city is available. What’s unique here is thestreet level view. At any time you can zoom to street level and look at your creation through the eyes of an inhabitant.

The interface is easy to use and building tools are surprisinglysimple to manage. Your success will depend heavily on what you buildand where you build it. Constructing a city is quite simple in theorybut when you mix in trying to satisfy the population things gettrickier. This game is fairly difficult and should keep a consumerentertained for hours on end.

Overall, this game is worth owning. If you’re looking to kill time than this could be the solution to your problem.
