Let me cut straight to the chase with three little words. Wireless, Skateboard, Controller. Tony Hawk and company have decide to give the series a much needed jumpstart, and this means nothing but good news for the fans. This falls Tony Hawk: Ride will feature a brand spanking new way to shread the streets, via a wireless infrared controller. It will drop for all major consoles as well.
The device sits on the floor and looks just like a normal skateboard deck right down to its slightly curved heel and nose sections. Gamers will be able to pull off basic moves by actually performing them on the board, which purportedly responds to any "tilting or turning motions." Sliding your foot next to the board will let you push it, while infrared sensors let you pull off grabs without having to physically bend down and touch it. This all sounds tricky, but Activision promises you won't need to know how to skate to be good at the game. This change no doubt comes from the rise of EA's Skate franchise. We'll keep you posted on this game as new news hits the half-pipe. |
