Have you heard of the awesome project that is Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog? It's a science fiction/superhero/musical/comedy written and shot in six days during the Writer's Strike by Joss Whedon and his loyal friends and collaborators. The three-parter internet series (totalling 42 minutes) will be streamed for free on the website until July 20, after which it will go to DVD so it may hopefully make enough money to pay those who worked on it.

Before we even get to what the project is all about, one extra on the DVD is sure to raise eyebrows. Whedon is planning on having the DVD commentary scripted... as a musical. Yes, with original music and singing.

"We're already working on some of the DVD extras, which are going to be the finest in all the land. We're actually going to do, in addition to the commentary, what we refer to as ‘commentary with an exclamation point'! A musical commentary that is a completely original musical, that is all commentary songs, and we're writing that now," Whedon told TV Guide.

The project sounds like a hoot, with Neil Patrick Harris in the lead role as Dr. Horrible—a mad scientist with a heart who wants to rule the world—and Nathan Fillion as his arch-nemesis, the narcissistic superhero Captain Hammer. So fangirls with Fillion crush, here's your chance to make him even more dreamy in your fantasies. He'll be singing while wearing a tight superhero costume!

Act I will air next Tuesday (July 15th), with Act II and III following on the 17th and 19th. They will be taken the next day on the 20th, however, so make sure you watch them when they air. For now, here's the trailer:
