As a lot of us know, X-Men is a franchise many people love dearly. (including me) News that was released this past Wednesday however, might piss a lot of peeps off...

Josh Schwartz, the creator of such awful (and fake) shows as The O.C. and Gossip Girl will be writing the X-Men: First Class movie, the next installment into the franchise.

From what i've read the story of X-Men: First Class will center around the known Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, Angel and Professor X. The real question mark here is about Schwartz. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set to eventually drop so Marvel has that covered for the rabid fans, but is Schwartz a new good idea or a bad teenie bopper idea.

If Schwartz, an executive producer for a pretty decent show Chuck, is getting the nod what is Marvel thinking many will say. Well I will try to defend their choice a little. If you have a movie about the teen versions of these heroes/villians then why not have someone who writes and produces teens dramas quite well, hate it or not The O.C. got some ratings.

All in all only time will tell when 2010 rolls around and the movie is released. I will see it due to my love for Marvel and X-Men. I saw Star Wars episodes 1-3 so I think I can make it through damn near anything at this point. All I can say is this...

Thank you Marvel for the Wolverine movie and thank you Hugh Jackman for not being a douche and dumping the project!!! At least I know this will have some slashing and mad fighting in it!!!

In what way are Gossip Girl and The OC fake? Awful is subjective, so I understand. But they are no more "fake" than X-Men. Have you watched them? Yes, they are about rich people, but they are about rich people that have problems quite similar to teenagers in real life that money can't solve. And who have to deal with them in the same way.

I agree Shannon. Though I probably couldn't live down being a Gossip Girl viewer, I did watch and enjoy The OC for a season or two. It got a little out of control towards the end, but I thought it was a interesting and often humorous drama during it's first season.

ok sorry guys but let me throw this in cause you didnt know apparently... The OC was totally scripted. The real "Teens" are now trying their acting talents elsewhere. Just like the Real Housewifes of the OC it was SCRIPTED. IT WAS FAKE. THe OC was made to entertain and that is it. They had problems like that oh so hard job where they will make a cool 75,000 and still get to live in a multi-million dollar neighborhood and house. Not real, it was fake and staged.

By the way Shannon, X-Men was a comic made TV show made movie, the OC was a scripted show about pretty white kids with problems. X-Men is a fantasy concept The OC is half-ass "reality" TV.

Of course it was scripted. It was an hour long drama, it wasn't supposed to be reality TV. I don't understand what you mean by that. And just because it was unrelated to you doesn't mean it was "fake."

This is where I think he has a chance to do some good though. Since it was fake/scripted (reality is not scripted and the show was based on "real" events)he might be able to do a good version considering he is dealing with the teen X-Men. SO it would be The OC with mad mutant abilities.
