David Fincher will direct an adaptation of French comic book The Killer for paramount, Variety reports.

This isn\'t at all related to John Woo\'s 1989 masterpiece of the same name (although that one is getting an American-set remake, with a Korean actor replacing Chow Yun-Fat), but rather based on a series of European graphic novels by Matz (real name Alexis Nolent) and Luc Jacamon, the first of which was originally published in 1988 in France.

The comic tells the tale of a law student turned methodical professional hitman who\'s in the business strictly for the money, but eventually faces a crisis of conscience. It\'s notable that the character is completely rational and unapologetic, viewing murder as nothing more than "a job\'s a job."

Long time producer Alessandro Camon is writing the script. You have to wonder if that\'s because of the WGA strike.
