Rumors are flying that Tim Burton has found his Alice for his upcoming Burtonesque interpretation of Lewis Caroll's Alice in Wonderland. Interestingly, the picked actress is not a kid like you'd expect Alice to be, but a 24-year-old.

It's been reported that casting for the film was recently completed and a poster from the fan board Alice-in-Wonderland.net identified the mystery girl as up-and-comer Ryan Nicole Parker (I found the photo to the left from her Myspace profile), which hasn't been in a lot of projects according to her resume.

The fact that Alice is being played by an adult may give you the idea that Burton's vision would be one with a darker and more adult edge, but since the film is going to be 3D motion capture (ala Beowulf), she might just be digitally playing a 10-year-old. The catch is, the film is only partially motion capture. It'll be a hybrid of animation and live action footage. Given the situation, you'd think that Alice would be the one in live-action. We'll just have to wait and see what the deal is.
