A former agent for the Mossad claims that he was duped by Sacha Baron Cohen for his upcoming Borat follow-up Bruno. Cohen went to the old city in Jerusalem to interview Israeli analyst Yossi Alpher, who thought he was participating in a documentary about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but was baffled to find the comedian clad in studs and leather as his popular gay Austrian character.

Apparently neither Alpher nor the Palestinian counterpart participating in the interview caught on the prank even as Bruno compared the Mideast conflict to Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie's spat over Brad Pitt—but they grew suspicious as the interview continued with even more idiotic questions.

In a letter to New York's Jewish weekly The Forward, Alpher detailed a scene from the movie:

"One of us mentioned Hamas, and the exchange that ensued went something like this: 'Vait, vait. Vat's zee connection between a political movement and food. Vy hummus?' We exchanged astonished glances."

Even after the two explained the difference to Bruno, he kept insisting:

"Ya, but vy hummus? Yesterday I had to throw away my pita bread because it vas dripping hummus. Unt it's too high in carbohydrates."

As was the case with the many lawsuits involved with Borat, there was nothing Alpher could do after learning the truth behind Bruno, because the producers paid the interviewees and got them to sign release forms prior to filming. Lying to people: the cornerstone of guerrilla filmmaking.

This isn't the first potential scene from the upcoming film (which has a release date of May 15, 2009) to find its way into early leaks. SPOILERS: Back in April, he was caught dancing in shorts at the Wichita, Kansas airport and later crashed a church's Easter play dressed in S&M gear. When California okayed same-sex marriage back in May, he tried to interview Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, but was promptly brushed off. Cohen also managed to completely fool Ben Affleck in a staged sit-down interview, who was only informed that it was Sacha in disguise after venting to his friend Sarah Silverman, who asked him "Was this guy's name Bruno?" after hearing Affleck's insane story (can't wait to see that footage).

Despite these laked stories, though, Cohen's team had been doing relatively well keeping most of their antics off the blogs, which is a good thing, given how the success of the gags depend on the victims not knowing who he is. The more incognito he stays, the better.
