"Impossible!" the Fanboy hisses. "You're supposed to be dead!"

"You can't kill me that easily, my cynical foe!" The George Miller JLA Project quips as he sends a mighty right hook to the Fanboy's jaw. "Take that, naysayer! In the name of Justice!... League."

"Why won't you dieeeeee!" The Fanboy pounds on the ground in defeat.

Yes, finger-wagging fanboys bitching about the Justice League of America movie (tentatively called Justice League: Mortal), you might be sh-t out of luck. You thought the project was dead in the water, didn't you? You thought you were safe from your disapproval of the young actors cast as your beloved DC heroes. You thought George Miller was gone and should the idea of a JLA movie come up again, you'd get a director you prefer, like Jon Favreau's illegitimate child with Richard Donner—or something.

Well, Australian paper Herald Sun caught up with the Australian George Miller to find out and ask about fellow Aussie actress Megan Gale's involvement as Wonder Woman. Here's the skinny on the project, according to the story: the movie's still on production, it won't be shooting in Australia anymore, and Miller's still enthusiastic about Gale as Wondy (which hints that the rest of the previously known cast are still on the radar as well).

Back in April, we were sure that this particular egg had finally been cracked. After suffering from the writer's strike and fanboy backlash, its ineligibility to qualify in Australia's tax rebate was the death knell. WB took the project off the table and shelved it indefinitely... though it looks like Iron Man's success and Marvel's solid planning for an Avengers movie had rekindled Warner/DC's interest in seeing the Justice League on celluloid. Oh, and that Dark Knight thing's cha-ching cha-ching is probably a good motivation to have more Batman out there, Bale or no Bale.

Miller says he plans for filming to resume in 2009 and will shoot offshore to cut production costs.

Look, I'm not spotting wood for a live-action JLA movie either, but I'll be honest... Even if this turns out to be a misunderstanding on the Herald Sun's part and Mortal's not really ready to shoot in 2009, it's still impressive that this project can keep on floating after numerous setbacks. It's like the little train that could.
