Willem Dafoe has joined Lars von Trier's horror movie Antichrist, Variety says. Von Trier first announced the project way back in 2006, but the production is only now starting to chug along.

In what is described to be a psychological thriller that turns into a horror movie, a distraught couple retreats to an isolated cabin in the woods after the death of their only son. Dafoe plays the husband while the wife is being played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, who took the role after Von Trier's Dogville co-star passed on the film.

Not much else is known about the film, but when it was first announced, Von Trier revealed that the film's basic premise is that Satan—not God—was the one who created the world. If that sounds heavy, well... It's Lars von Trier.

The film will start shooting this month in Germany.
