The Christmas Carol send-up tells the story of a liberal filmmaker named Michael Malone, who wants to abolish the Fourth of July, but is visited by three "Spirits of America" who then teaches him the meaning of being a patriot. The film stars outspoken Republicans such as Dennis Hopper, Kelsey Grammer, James Woods, Jon Voight, Gary Coleman (who actually ran for California governor as a Republican), country singer Trace Adkins and Papa Bear Bill O'Reilly. And Leslie Nielsen's in there too, just because he's Zucker's muse. The trailer was first spotted at, of all things, The O'Reilly Factor. Here's a video:
Bill O'Reilly looks so proud of this movie, doesn't he? Who wants to bet that when the movie bombs, it's because of Hollywood's left-wing Jews? Let's make this clear... there's nothing wrong with neo-cons making a satire that mocks the left. Maybe it's even due time for it. But this movie looks shitty on the Mesopotamian level. I've got my issues with Michael Moore too, but the whole "Michael Moore hates America" thing is so played out. The only thing Michael Moore hates is not getting attention, and this will only fuel him further. Also: lesbians look like men, are hairy, and against the war. Terrific. One thing I found funny and lame at the same time, though: pay attention to whose quote it was in the trailer that calls David Zucker a "Master of movie satire." |
