He is now easily the hottest director in Hollywood with the biggest movie of the year, but Christopher Nolan remembers where it all began. Like the lead in his movie Memento, Nolan is returning to the beginning. The place where he first announced his arrival as a new voice in the movie industry: Slamdance. Two weeks from now, Nolan will hold a Q&A after a screening of his first film.

Nolan's black-and-white noir mystery The Following premiered at the Slamdance back in 1996, which helped put the director on the map. Since then, he has been supportive of Slamdance's commitment in discovering fresh young talents poised to become the next top director. With this January's Slamdance Film Festival being their 15th anniversary, the fest is holding a series of special events from now until next summer, where they're asking top directors to screen their first movies and participate in an open Q&A.

On September 5th at Los Angeles' Bing Theater is a screening of The Following, followed by the Q&A with Nolan and then a hosted reception. Tickets are available for $25 each here.

The following week (Sept 16th), Steven Soderbergh will screen his Slamdance entry Schizopolis at the IFC Center in New York, also with a Q&A afterwards.
