the-dark-knight-sequel-fanmade2.jpgSuperHeroHype board poster Chrisp85, who made that really cool Riddler poster that got everyone so jazzed up, is back again with a new teaser poster—this time with Deadshot as the villain. This poster is very simple in concept, but very well done. I'm especially fond of the INeverMiss.com website address (it doesn't exist, in case you were wondering).

I must confess that I like Deadshot as a villain selection much better than Riddler, for several reasons. First of all, he's just a crack shot, so he definitely fits into Nolan's "realistic" take. That might be problematic as a recognisable "supervillain," especially if he's not going to be wearing his full-body costume, but he's definitely a big enough threat that would still be believable in the Nolan world. The other reason why Deadshot's a good choice is his origin, which is the shadow reflection of Bruce Wayne's.

Coming from a rich family as high-society as the Waynes, Floyd Lawton always had a knack for sharpshooting. Unfortunately, Floyd's hateful mother wanted his father dead, and manipulated her two sons into killing Daddy. Not wanting his brother to be a murderer, Floyd tried to stop him by shooting the weapon off his hands, but a fall threw Floyd's aim and the bullet hit his brother between the eyes. Traumatized, Floyd abandoned his family fortune and grew up as a mercenary. He possesses extreme accuracy, but also harbors a death wish, making him the perfect fearless assassin.

Deadshot's stance as the anti-Batman, given his love for guns and Batman's intense hatred of them, would be a great psychological clash. And it would be very interesting to interpret Deadshot as a dangerous vigilante, a Batman who would kill (in the comics, Deadshot is employed by the government as part of the black ops team Suicide Squad). Thematically, it ties into the Copycat Batmen subplot in The Dark Knight and also Batman's relationship with the law at the end of the movie. If Nolan wants to continue and build this saga into a really epic seamless trilogy, taking the Copycat Batman thing into the next level would be a pretty cool next move.

But would the audience be satisfied with seeing Batman go against a mere assassin? I don't know...
