tarantino.jpgWhen Tarantino leaked the script to his WWII opus Inglorious Bastards a couple of months back to several online sites, many members of the geek community were ecstatic about it. The story—about a band of ultraviolent Jewish American soldiers on a mission to kill Nazi scum—raised a lot of attention, including those residing in Germany.

Tarantino's pulp take on the Germans weren't so well-received by the public after newspaper giant Sueddeutsche Zeitung published an article taking issue with Tarantino's portrayal, but the German government doesn't seem to mind as much, seeing how they've agreed to help finance the film.

The DFFF (German Federal Film Fund) is going to shell out some dough for Inglorious Bastards, which is set to start shooting in Babelsberg next month, reports Variety.

The fund has so far this year helped bankroll 70 films with a total of $62 million, generating an economic effect of more than $370 million for the German film industry. Other films funded this year include Roman Polanski's Ghost, Stephan Frears' Cheri and Lars Von Trier's Antichrist. Last year, the fund bankrolled Bryan Singer's Valkyrie and Tom Tykwer's The International.
