Talk about fast filmmaking at work. Just yesterday Obama's allies were warning the McCain front to stop making comments like "palling around with terrorists" and threatened to bring up McCain's part in the Keating Five scandal. Then just before midnight they announced a 13-minute documentary that will be available on YouTube and the website KeatingEconomics.com. That doc is now online. Fast worker, those Obama guys. Maybe they hired the people who did Disaster Movie.

The doc links McCain's involvement in the 90's savings and loans corruption scandal with today's financial crisis. Watch it below or click here for a Quicktime version.

Being only 13 minutes and officially endorsed by Obama, I suppose it's less a documentary and more of an oversized attack ad. If they were really serious in exploring this period and the roots of the mortgage crisis, they should've taken their time with this and release a longer doc, perhaps even air it on TV as an hour-long special in addition to a YouTube release. On one hand, it's nice to see modern tech and trends being adopted in the forefront of this country's progress. On the other, I can't help but feel like it's the equivalent of video blog feuds. Next thing you know we'll have McCain and Obama rickrolling each other. Which has happened before, you know:

It's sad but true: we can forget policies and positions now. The election is less than a month away, so it's crunch time for both parties. It's the moment for that time-honored campaign strategy... character assassination! Over the next month, we'll see more of this "He's friendly with terrorists!" and "He's a greedy rich white dude!" sentiments. Maybe we'll see a 13-minute doc on the Weather Underground by McCain's people?
