deadpool-maybe

This past week saw the release of the trailers for several much-anticipated geek flicks of this summer. Which one do you think is the best? Here's how I would rank them in reverse order (best for last).

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Nice, but a bit bland. The Voldermoort-only trailer before this was much better. It does show some sweet destruction near the end, though. These movies are moving increasingly away from magical-fantasy and into superhero realm with each installment.

Wolverine

Plenty of new stuff, but not too exciting save for that bit in the end for Whedon fans. Are the special effects not finished yet? In case you're wondering, the weird bald guy with markings, spikes on his arms and shooting beams from his eyes is Deadpool, as identified by the movie's merchandising items. Where's the fanboy uproar?

Terminator Salvation

Saw the debut of this trailer at WonderCon, and it brought the whole house down. Definitely the best trailer for this movie so far. I like how it has the feel of a war movie, which might have a lot to do with the fact that Christian Bale is screaming.

Blood: The Last Vampire

The short movie was well acclaimed. The anime series was popular. Can it work as a live-action feature? It looks like it pried the brakes off of it and chucked it out the window. This looks like it's going to offer even more carnage than the anime.

Up

A funny trailer that finally reveals something about it other than just an old man in a flying house. If you find the "squirrel" joke and the rainbow dodo bird thingie to be adorable, rest assured that there will be more in the film; and yes, they're really funny.

Star Trek

Sure, it looks nothing like Star Trek, but that's going to be key in drawing the big audience. More than that, though, this is just an incredibly well put together trailer. The choice of moments, the visuals, and the score... God, the score! I just hope the movie can match the epic sense of this trailer.
