We finally have a trailer for Jean-Luc Godard's new film Socialisme, rumored to be his last. There's no official synopsis yet so not much is known about it, but the (unfortunately unsubtitled) trailer below is unmistakably very Godard.
Anybody fluent in French care to translate? Now in his seventies, Godard looks to be experimenting further with digital video, having used it in his last two projects. Some of these HD shots are breathtaking. It begs the question of the aspect ratio, though. The trailer is in 16:9, which is typical of HD video, but not for Godard. I'd be very unhappy if any of these shots are cropped to 1.37:1. |
