We all know the usual cliches of the horror genre; namely a list of things that inexplicably must happen to ensure prolonging the plot. Can't have the movie end too quickly, after all. This includes running up the stairs instead of out the door, babysitting a house that just happens to have no neighbors, cutting the phone lines, and in our modern times, undermining the competence of our cell phone providers. This video compiles the use of the latter in dozens of horror movies / thrillers.
The video starts with a montage of the dumbest reason (no signal) to the slightly more plausible one (out of battery) and continues onto the more creative ways to dispose of cell phones (relatively, anyway). Yeah, I like how some of them try to make self-aware comments on the situation (The Hills Have Eyes remake, especially), as if that somehow makes it less of a cheat. |
