"Ebert & Roeper" Bids Farewell on "Entourage" PDF Print E-mail

Chicago Tribune critics Richard Roeper and Roger Ebert's semi-replacement Michael Phillips shot a special episode of At the Movies with Ebert & Roeper for the premiere episode—actually, the very first scene—of Entourage's upcoming Season 5, set to air September 7th on HBO.

In the scene, Eric (Kevin Connoly) watches the two critics stomp the crap out of their Pablo Escobar passion project Medellin. Watch as Roeper compares Vincent Chase's performance to Jiminy Glick. Ouch.

I like how Roeper and Phillips are so used to doing that show that they can make a fake review of a fake movie sound exactly like their usual schtick. Unfortunately, as we all know At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper has been cancelled and replaced with a new At the Movies that will have more of an Access Hollywood feel, covering movie news and gossip rather than film reviews. This bastardization of Ebert and Siskel's brainchild will air, ironically, the night before the Entourage premiere.

Things don't bode well for Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) in Season 5, as it seems. I guess E was right all along in saying that the movie looked like shit. Only that Ramones biopic can save them now.

It's not the only TV show to be featured in this upcoming season. Another episode will see Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) having a meltdown on The View.
