That was the joke that became the focal point of last night's South Park, which destroyed both Kanye West and Carlos Mencia. Kanye failed to get the joke and gets angry when people use the fishsticks joke on him, while Carlos Mencia--who South Park accurately describes as an unfunny comedian who repackages old jokes with a Mexican accent--tries to steal the credit for the fishticks joke. I don't know if Mencia has seen it yet, but Kanye did, and surprise, he actually took it rather well. The episode concluded with Cartman delivering a speech about how some people are so thickheaded and wrapped in their own ego that they fail to see the truth. When Kanye heard this, he understands how he's been wrong this whole time, and accepts that he is, in fact, a gay fish. I was expecting the real Mr. West to also not "get it" and dismiss the show (if he even watches it at all) but in his new blog post, Kanye wrote that not only did he think it was funny, but he's also taking the episode's message to heart, which means he took his South Park bashing much better than most celebs who are lampooned on the show (*cough*TomCruise*cough*). Please forgive the caps. This is just how a dope genius writes.
That's pretty cool of Kanye, actually. But then again, South Park did go a little easy on him, didn't they? After all, how can anyone truly say the portrayal was negative when they gave him the awesome honor of killing a lazy, joke-stealing, painfully unfunny and condescendingly racist piece of sh-t rip-off artist like Carlos Mencia?
UPDATE 1/13/09 : Uh-oh, apparently Kanye is insisting that South Park had nothing to do with his sudden change of heart. It's just a big coincidence, yo. Uh huh.
Again, genius writes in caps. |
