M83 releases its new album Saturdays=Youth and it does well but can it deliver the goods and take down its competition? M83\'s electronica style is one of the most unique out there due to the fact that it\'s one of the hardest to pull off correctly while maintaining a good sound. M83 uses beautiful textures and smooth beats with some well crafted lyrics to top it off. Songs like “Graveyard Girl”, “Couleurs” and “We Own The Sky” display the great tones and wonderful abilities that M83 uses - uses very, very well. M83 shows off their stuff in this new well-produced album that will be loved by the fans that M83 already has.

On the downside, M83 fails to do anything special or different from their previous recordings on most of the tracks. This holds them back and prevents this CD from being as good as you would think it should be. Some of the songs do little to impress you. Tracks like “You Appearing”, “Kim & Jesse” and “Too Late” just are not very good compared to the standards that electronica artists usually have. They feel like tracks that were forced out instead of made through the passion of the love for the music. M83 made a seemingly good album that was full of great beats and great electronica music styles - but it also had too many songs with lackluster sounds and forgettable lyrics.

Overall M83 does a pretty good job. Unfortunately this is definitely not something that someone trying to get into this music style will be converted by. With so many other electronic groups out there now, like Ladytron or The Chemical Brothers just to name a few, this CD will not bring new fans but will please those who are already fans of electronica or of M83. M83\'s older stuff is something that could easily sway people into trying out the electronic style much more; but for now M83 seems to have slowed down a bit and allowed the competition to release seemingly better music than what they have currently come out with.

As far as you M83 fans go, Saturdays=Youth will fit nicely into the M83 cache and it will reach you like the other albums have in the past. This album starts out slow and somewhat painful to get through but speeds up indefinitely midway through and really just gets going. You will enjoy this album even though you may have to suffer through a few lesser tracks which you\'ll probably start skipping to get to the ones with more personality and better beats. For the general crowd: at least give this album a shot especially if you\'re a techno nut.
