Gojira, a French based metal band whose name stands for the mighty Japanese lizard “Godzilla,” has recently released their new album The Way Of The Flesh. The albumis a medley of metal; a wonderful, brutal, bass bashing soundtrack that brings together all that is great about Gojira.

From the song “The Silver Chord” which is 2:32, to “The Art Of Dying” that runs a full 9:54; Gojira puts itself up there with the likes of Dragonforce, Dream Theatre and other successful bands that can play long songs and not lose your interest. Gojira has powerful guitars and pounding bass that will keep you going and going. I am going to say this without regret… this album is better than Metallica’s Death Magnetic. There I said it. I am a metalholic and what I just stated is sheer truth. Gojira swayed me with such tracks as “Oroborus” and “Yama’s Messengers,” which happen to be better than Death Magnetic’s “All Nightmare Long” and “Suicide & Redemption,” which is saying a lot.

In general, The Way Of All Flesh is just a bad-ass album. The Duplantier brothers compose some hardcore music and some great jam sessions that make amazing songs. The track “The Art of Dying” contains some lyrics that I want you to see because they just signify the raw lyrical power that Joe Duplantier has,

“I cannot stomach these forms and colors anymore but I’m here to continue/after all I have been through I try to keep my eyes open/I am realizing this life and death more precious than anything.”

Gojira simply puts up quality music to back up their terrific ability. The Way Of The Flesh is a must get album for all metal heads and is definitely on my to buy list. This album is a diamond in the rough and will be a treasured commodity to metal and rock lovers through and through. I am someone who is constantly looking for good music, and by good I mean that for whatever genre the artist happens to be in they are able to deliver to their type of fans. I loved Gojira and I'm now looking at their older albums. Check these guys out.
