Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter III dropped and in just a week already has sold 1,006,000. This is the largest sales week since 50 Cent's The Massacre in March of 2005 with 1,141,000. Even when Wayne's album was leaked out already on every downloading site he still sold over a million. I am not a big fan if Wayne myself but still this is obviously hot to the general hip-hop public despite the hating on him(myself included). Before Wayne dropped his album the highest grossing of 2008 was Mariah Carey's E=MC2 with just 463,000. He even outsold the last 2 years largest sellers which includes Kanye West's Graduation(957,000 sold in 2007) and Rascal Flatts Me and My Gang(722,000 sold in 2006).

As we all know downloading individual songs is the new wave thing but, consider this; the highest selling single song is "Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain which sold 467,000 downloads in the last week of December. Tha Carter III is even outselling download services. Lil Wayne's previous highest sell in his first week was his previous album Tha Carter II which sold only 238,000 copies compared to the over million Tha Carter III. Weather you love or hate Lil' Wayne you cannot say he isn't popular. He is currently on every radio, club and iPod out there and we just gotta accept it and deal with it. Lil Wayne apparently makes good albums after kissing a man so lets hope he doesn't do anything else crazier to drop his next album...
