Post-hardcore icon Geoff Rickly, of Thursday fame, has apparently been spending his time as of late on a side project band going by the name United Nations. According to a recent interview, United Nations consists of Rickly and a group of other, anonymous musicians who can not reveal their names due to being under contract with different record labels. Oddly enough, this is not even the strangest thing I'm about to share with you about this new band.

United Nations will be releasing their debut album on September 9th through Eyeball Records, the label that helped give Thursday their start back in the '90s. The mystery band has reportedly already recorded a number of songs. According to Rickly, the band has already recorded a 10", a 7" and another full length follow up to their debut coming out next month. And, if you chose to believe him or not, Rickly says the band is also currently working on a kids themed version on their debut album in the vein of the Kidz Bop series. Rickly called the album United Nations Plays Pretty For a Bunch of Fucking Babies. I'm not real sure who the target audience would be for that disc, but more power to them if they really are going to record it.

In one last parting note, Geoff mentioned that the creators of the hugely popular internet cartoons Homestar Runner, would be "directing the band, like (it was) one of their short cartoons."

Seriously if it was April instead of August I don't know if I'd believe a word of this. If you think I'm trying to pull one over on you, go check out the full interview here.

"Plays Pretty for Baby" is the name of an old Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer song, who used to be signed to Eyeball Records.
